Sophisticated, timeless, and incredibly versatile, stripes will always be in fashion. Our interiors expert, Lorna McAleer explains why, along with offering advice on how to style striped window blinds in your home.
Classic Décor that Creates Space
“Stripes are an elegant and ageless addition to homes,” says Lorna. “Against a backdrop of dark charcoal or blue, stripes in shades of taupe or grey with lighter accents of sandy yellow or lime green will reinvigorate rooms for the summer months.
Striped designs can also establish a feeling of space. Vertical stripes will draw the eye upwards creating the illusion of height, and similarly horizontal stripes will have an elongating effect on smaller rooms.”
Back to School Stripes
“Very often what we see on the catwalks is reflected in interior trends and that’s certainly true for the school inspired stripes in Mulberry’s spring/summer previews. Drawing influence from the blazers of British educational institutes, this look, incorporating an on-trend blue/grey colour palette, offers up a new uniform for homes in 2017.”
Pattern that Grows with Your Child
“Stripes are a wise investment for a kid’s room because they’re bright and fun, but they’re not age-sensitive as you will find with many designs for children. They’re suitable for toddlers right up to teenagers and won’t fall out of vogue. Just update the accessories as your child matures.
Co-ordinating with an existing scheme is child’s play with striped roller blinds in red, white and blue.”
